Privacy, the easy version: nothing leaves your setup.

Tru-Control doesn't have accounts, analytics, or a server of its own — this page mostly exists to prove it.

In short

Tru-Control is a native iOS client. It reads and writes status to whatever Bluetooth gateway or MQTT broker you point it at — that's the entire relationship. There is no MF-Lab server in the loop, so there's nothing for MF-Lab to collect, store, or lose.

If you read nothing else: Tru-Control has no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. Your heating system's data goes straight from your gateway to the broker you configured — never through us.

What the app can access, and why

iOS asks you to approve each of these individually. Here's what they're actually for:

Bluetooth
To talk directly to your gateway device over BLE when you're near it. This connection is peer-to-peer — nothing you send or receive over Bluetooth passes through MF-Lab.
Local network
To reach an MQTT broker running on your own network, if you're using one (for example, a self-hosted broker on your home or van Wi-Fi).
Notifications
Local, on-device alerts when your heating system reports an error code. These are generated by the app itself, not pushed from a server — Tru-Control doesn't have one to push from.

What stays on your device

Your MQTT broker's host, port, and credentials — whatever you enter in Settings — are stored locally on your phone. They're used only to open a connection to the broker you specified, and are never transmitted anywhere else, including to MF-Lab.

What we don't do

  • No account or sign-up — the app works the moment you open it.
  • No analytics, crash reporting, or third-party tracking SDKs.
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
  • No location tracking. Tru-Control never asks for your location.
  • Nothing to sell. We don't sell, rent, or share data, because none of it passes through us in the first place.

Where your data actually goes

When Tru-Control is connected, it exchanges live status — temperature, battery voltage, error codes, and similar readings — directly with:

  • Your gateway, over Bluetooth, when you're within range, or
  • An MQTT broker of your choosing, over the internet, when you're not.

That broker might be self-hosted, or a third-party service such as EMQX or HiveMQ Cloud. Whichever you use, its own privacy practices apply to anything it stores or forwards on your behalf — Tru-Control doesn't route any of it through MF-Lab, and can't see it once it leaves your gateway.

Children's privacy

Tru-Control isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age — there's simply nowhere for that information to go, even if it wanted to.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes will also be reflected in the About screen inside the app.
