Privacy Policy
App Version 2.0
Last Updated: 7 October 2026
1. Introduction
MF‑LAB.com (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the RV‑Pilot mobile application (the “App”), including its CarPlay, Apple Watch, widget and Live Activity features.
RV‑Pilot is a set of instruments for campers, vans and motorhomes: altitude, speed, heading, pressure, a level for parking, a trip log and a barometric trend. It uses built‑in device sensors (GPS, barometer, magnetometer, motion sensors). The App is designed to work entirely on‑device – we do not run any server for the App and no data is ever sent to us or to any third party.
2. Data Collection and Usage
2.1 Information We DO NOT Collect
RV‑Pilot is built with privacy as a priority. We DO NOT:
- Collect any personal information (name, email, address, etc.) – the App has no accounts or sign‑in
- Receive, upload or store your location, trips or any sensor data on our servers
- Access your contacts, calendar, or other personal files
- Use analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
- Use advertising networks or any tracking technologies
- Sell or share any information with third parties
2.2 Information Processed Locally (On‑Device Only)
The App processes the following data exclusively on your device (and, where you use them, on your paired Apple Watch and the CarPlay display) – it never leaves your devices through us:
- GPS altitude, coordinates and ground speed – from CoreLocation
- Magnetic heading – compass direction (from CoreLocation)
- Barometric pressure – raw pressure readings (from CMAltimeter), and the altitude and sea‑level pressure calculated from them
- Pitch and roll – device attitude (from CoreMotion), used by the Flight Display, the Level Assistant and the phone position calibration
- Vertical speed – derived from GPS altitude changes
2.3 Information You Choose to Save on Your Device
Some features keep data on your device so that they can work over time. This data is stored only in the App’s private storage on your device:
- Trips (Trip Log) – only when you start a recording: GPS track points (latitude, longitude, altitude, time and speed), distance, ascent and descent. You can rename or delete each trip in the App at any time, and export it as a GPX file
- Pressure history (Barometric Trend) – sea‑level‑adjusted pressure values with timestamps for the last 25 hours (no coordinates are stored with them)
- Vehicle profile and phone position – the dimensions and weight you enter and the calibration of how your phone is mounted
- Preferences – unit system, selected voice, alert thresholds, custom alert messages, and your Pro purchase status
All this data stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App (see Section 9 for how to delete it earlier).
3. Sensor and Device Permissions
RV‑Pilot requests the following permissions. Each permission is used only for the purpose described, and no data is transmitted to us.
3.1 Location (While Using the App)
- Used for: GPS altitude, ground speed, heading, vertical speed, correcting pressure to sea level, and recording trips when you ask
- Background use: the App can keep receiving location while it is in the background only in two cases: (1) while a Trip Log recording is running, and (2) if you explicitly turn on Monitor in background on the Barometric Trend page, which uses low‑power location only to keep the App running so that pressure can be recorded while you are parked. In both cases iOS shows its standard location indicator, and you can stop at any time
- No location history is kept unless you record a trip, and a recorded trip never leaves your device unless you export or share it yourself
3.2 Motion & Fitness
- Used for: barometric pressure readings, pitch and roll (attitude), phone position calibration
- Why required: to access the device’s barometer, gyroscope and accelerometer
3.3 Camera and Photos
- Used for: the Share button of the Cockpit takes a photo with your altitude and coordinates overlaid, so you can send it with the iOS share sheet
- The App does not read your photo library. It may offer to save an image to your library only when you choose to from the iOS share sheet
3.4 Connectivity (CarPlay and Apple Watch)
- CarPlay communicates with your car over the wired or wireless connection managed by iOS, and the Apple Watch app communicates with your iPhone through Apple’s Watch Connectivity
- These are local connections between your own devices; no internet access is used by the App for them
4. CarPlay, Apple Watch, Widgets and Live Activities
When your device is connected to a CarPlay‑compatible car:
- RV‑Pilot appears in the CarPlay launcher and displays information on the car’s screen (including the Trip Log tab, where you can start or stop a trip)
- Voice alerts are played through the car’s audio system using
AVSpeechSynthesizer, which runs on the device
- No vehicle data is read from the car – the App only sends visual and audio output to the CarPlay interface
If you use the Apple Watch app, the iPhone sends it the values to display (altitude, pressure, trend, level, trip status) and the Watch can send back a start/stop command for the Trip Log. This exchange happens directly between your iPhone and your paired Watch.
Widgets and the Live Activity (Lock Screen and Dynamic Island) show values prepared by the App; they are stored on your device in a container shared only between the App and its widget extension.
5. Data Storage and Sharing
All data is stored locally on your device using:
UserDefaults for preferences, vehicle profile and phone position calibration
- Files in the App’s private storage for recorded trips and the 25‑hour pressure history
- A container shared only with the App’s own widget extension, for the widget and Live Activity
- Data is deleted when you uninstall the App
- We create no backup of App data – your own iCloud or computer backups may include it, under Apple’s privacy framework
When you export a trip as GPX or share a photo, the file is created on your device and handed to the iOS share sheet; where it goes is decided by you, and from that point the privacy policy of the app or service you choose applies.
6. Third‑Party Services and Purchases
RV‑Pilot does not use any third‑party services, including but not limited to:
- Analytics (Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Crash reporting (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
- Advertising networks
- Social media SDKs
- Cloud storage or remote databases
- Any form of tracking or fingerprinting
The only exception is the optional RV‑Pilot Pro in‑app purchase, which is handled entirely by Apple (App Store / StoreKit). Apple processes your payment and Apple ID; we do not receive your payment details or personal information, and the App only checks locally whether the purchase is active. Buying or restoring Pro requires an internet connection; all instruments work without one.
7. Children’s Privacy
RV‑Pilot is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Because we collect no data, no special parental consent is required.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. For significant changes, we may provide an in‑app notice (if feasible). Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Your Rights and Controls
Since we do not collect or hold any of your personal data, traditional data subject rights (access, rectification, deletion, portability) are satisfied by the controls you already have on your device:
- Trips – delete any trip in Trip Log › Trip history (swipe or Delete trip), or export it as GPX
- Background monitoring – switch off Monitor in background at any time; stop a recording with Stop & save trip
- Permissions – change or revoke Location, Motion and Camera access in iOS Settings › RV‑Pilot
- Phone position and preferences – reset the calibration in Menu › Phone position; change units, voice and alerts in the Menu
To delete all App data at once, uninstall RV‑Pilot from your device.
10. Security
We rely entirely on iOS’s built‑in security mechanisms:
- Sensor data, trips and pressure history are never transmitted by the App, so there is no risk of interception in transit
- The App’s data is stored in its sandbox, inaccessible to other apps
- The App itself makes no network requests other than the App Store purchase flow handled by Apple
However, please keep your iOS device updated with the latest security patches and use a strong device passcode.
11. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or RV‑Pilot in general, please contact us at:
12. Compliance
This Privacy Policy is designed to be consistent with:
- Apple’s App Store guidelines (including guidelines for location, sensor usage, background location and CarPlay)
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) principles (data minimisation, no unnecessary collection, data kept on the user’s device)

13. Disclaimer
RV‑Pilot is provided “as is” for recreational and informational use. It is not a certified aviation, navigation, leveling or safety instrument and should not be used for primary navigation or any safety‑critical purpose. The barometric trend and weather alert are informational and are not a weather forecast. Wedge heights and levels are estimates: always verify your vehicle’s stability before relying on them. Do not interact with the App while driving, and always follow traffic regulations.
The App does not send your data to us. However, you are responsible for granting appropriate permissions (location, motion, camera), for what you choose to share or export, and for securing your iOS device.
